The “Big One” hits the Salt Lake Valley

So there I was at home, reading a book while Audrey slept and Sarah was at work, when it hit. The big one — an earth-shattering quake!

Actually, it was only 2.5 on the Richter scale and lasted only 4 or 5 seconds, tops. While it was happening, I wondered if it was wind blowing the house, but after it was done, I was pretty sure it was an earthquake. Turns out the epicenter was just about 4 miles from my house.

This was the first real earthquake I’ve ever felt, and I was rather excited. Fortunately, there was no damage to our house (or anyone else, according to this AP story).
