Rip-off report

I started shopping for a network-attached storage device several days ago, after a hard-drive failure on my main home computer wiped out most of the stuff I’ve done in the last year. All of the major online retailers had basically the exact same price of $399, so I decided to buy it from Amazon. I’d… Continue reading Rip-off report

The Force flows through all things

Since my kids recently watched the Star Wars movies for the first time (in preparation for our family Halloween costumes this year), I’ve become acutely aware of its influence on our popular culture. I’ll see some reference to the Force or to Darth Vader, and think, “Audrey would get that now, but she wouldn’t have understood it a month ago.”

Telling Stories

The biggest annoyance left is the fact that we don’t have a fridge in the house.   (Sarah is planning to re-finish the hardwood floors in the front entry, hall and kitchen/dining room,… Continue reading Settling in

I Got the Box!

Moving always means scrounging boxes from wherever you can in order to get all of your stuff from House A to House B.   In our case, we’ve been collecting boxes since before I left Channel 4 — paper boxes, Nexpress cylinder boxes, diaper boxes, etc.   We hauled a lot of stuff down to… Continue reading I Got the Box!

Fan mail

Yesterday I got an email in Spanish through the contact form on my web site. It came from someone calling himself “rICHARD”, listing a very vague email address. It was titled, “lOSER, PERDEDOR”: wHAT ARE YOU DOING PUBLISHING A PERSONAL PAGE ABOUT YOUR LIFE, DO YOU THINK YOURSELF SOMEONE THAT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO ANYONE,… Continue reading Fan mail
